BACKGROUND: the plot of TOAFN; the characters
The central plot of The Once & Future Nerd revolves around three high school students from middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania, who find themselves transported to the medieval kingdom of Iorden during a time of civil war. The three must learn to defend themselves in order to survive, using swords, magic, and their wits. Though they go through a lot (Jen kills two men, one a child molester, the other trying to kill their entire party), they have no clues about how to get home.

WISH: "I wish I could go home." Jen is facing a war, with heavy implications of a systemic oppression of the Orcish people by the Elves. Regan is showing no desire to take her place as Queen, and the kids feel the farthest they've been yet from finding a way home. All she wants is the opportunity to return to Pennsylvania and the life she knows.

FIT: Jen would probably be more inclined to produce energy through platonic interactions and acts of good will than she would through sexual interactions. As flawed as her relationship with Billy is, she still cares for him and wouldn't want to betray his trust. Jen is strongly inclined not to let injustice stand, such as how she killed Sergeant McShane when she learned that he was molesting the children of prostitutes at Madame Bailey's. She's learned now that murder doesn't suit her, and knows that she can't go around killing to solve her problems. That said, she's your typical high schooler, who's more than happy to make friends and volunteer her time for the greater good.

CONSENT: CW: childhood sexual abuse When Jen was eleven, her father left. This led to her mother encouraging her to join the cheerleading squad, believing that the other girls would be good influences on Jen. Unbeknownst to her mother, the junior high cheerleading coach, Mr. McCreary, would watch Jen undress in the locker room, blocking the door so she couldn't leave. The other girls teased Jen about all the attention she received from Mr. McCreary, so much so that she never told anyone about what he did. As such, Jen would never tolerate anyone breaking her consent, and would always seek to get the consent of others.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Jen has demonstrated the ability to use lightning magic, though it is unpredictable and unstable.

AGE-UP: Jen is 16 but would need to be aged up to 18. She has shown great emotional maturity in her time in Iorden, often being the responsible one of the party. She's intelligent beyond her years, though she doesn't often show it. Aging her up to 18 wouldn't show any significant change in her personality or behavior.
